Thousands of years ago, a tectonic crack in the earth birthed a soot-covered baby dragon.
As it grew, it learned that the humans at the base of its mountain were ridiculously fragile, and could die at the slightest injury. It also discovered that the crystals it could conjure, a simple byproduct of being so powerful-- like a flake of skin or shed hair-- had full power over these silly bipedal creatures.
With one measly shard, even a dead human could revive stonger, more difficult to kill, and far more entertaining.
Bored with her own immortality, Zero occasionally descends in order to do one of two things with humankind:
